Hi David
I won the other two PIRA awards in 1987. I don’t suppose you have any info from the awards. All I can find is a mention in the computer magazine that promoted the awards
Sorry to reply so late Glenn, blame the Junk folder! That’s interesting – I won one award, but was told it covered two magazines I entered! I have no idea what other mentions might have been made. I won ‘Best Newspaper or Magazine’ according to the certificate, two entirely different things in my view but that’s how they did it.
Hello David.Just reaching out to see if you were the DK at Richmond, 1970, with me. You had the motorbike and I had a Lambretta. Ron, Frank and Jerry were our mentors. I hope life has been good to you.
Hi Peter, big gap between you sending and me seeing! I do not monitor this site often. I remember you of course, and you became the Mexborough Times editor I think? I have been in Scotland since 1988 – Shirley died of cancer in 2019, my son Richard is 51 and lives in North Wingfield after a long while further south working for Bauer (sadly no longer and it’s not easy to find work as a specialist photo press/motoring journo), my daughter Ailsa is about to turn 44 and is on the official reports team at Holyrood. I have a neighbour in the next village, John Littlewood, who is Frank’s son. I had a brief encounter with Ron on-line some time ago, but never come across Jerry again. I’ve one OK but my photographic publishing company, founded 1987, is now just me and doing very little. Mostly I survive on AirBnB as we always put whatever we could into property not pensions, and the result means rattling around in 20+ rooms of Georgian house with two lettable wings, fortunately all just one house no business or council tax issues to deal with. And good health while so many of my friends and family have not been as fortunate. Fingers crossed!
